| Summary: Bambara Restaurant is high-scale dining in downtown Salt Lake City. Don't be fooled by the name - my wife and I thought it would be italian food, but is more of a steakhouse. As with most high-end dining, Bambara focuses more on quality than quantity (translation: the portions are good but small). I highly recommend Bambara for anybody looking for a nice place to eat in SLC. It is a part of the ritzy Hotel Monaco where it is rumored that many visiting celebrities stay (what they are doing in Utah, I have no idea). Full Review Product Selection Bambara Restaurant has a one-page menu with about 10 entrees to choose from. If you want a great non-alcoholic drink, try their Blueberry Lemonade - it is fantastic. Most of the dishes (7 or so) are steak, fish, pork and chicken. There are about 3 pastas to choose from if you are not in the mood for meat or fish. Product Quality The food tasted great - the filet mignon (about $30) is superb - although they bring you a steak knife, you won't need it. They bring you complimentary pita spears and hummus at the beginning of the meal. It is a white-bean humus and probably one of the best appetizers I have ever had. Also, the molten lava cake is great for dessert. Service Our server and drink server were great. They were always ready to refill our glasses. The preparation of the food is pretty slow, so plan on spending at least a couple of hours if you are with a group. A couple should probably plan on an hour to an hour-and-a-half. Price The price is quite expensive by Utah standards, but comparable to most higher-quality restaurants. With drinks, entrees and dessert, expect to spend at least $80 per couple. Problem Resolution We had a situation where my Aunt's little girl decided her lemonade was too sour. Our drink server brought her sugar and tried to sweeten it - when that didn't work, he brought her another lemonade with a raspberry sweetener and she was very happy. I was impressed with the server's patience. Value If spending $80 on a dinner is something that doesn't phase you, I highly recommend Bambara Restaurant. Their meticulous attention to detail and great food make it a truly great dining experience.
